Sad :(

One little monkey jumped out of the crib.

Now, he's in a big boy bed :(

I SWEAR I will get his 19 month pictures, many blog posts that are floating around in my head and on my camera, and an explanation of why I haven't been blogging up soon.

Funny Little Guy

Brian has been up to some funny stuff lately. Yesterday we were eating M & Ms. He loves M & Ms! Anyway, we finished the package and he took of with the empty wrapper. I chased him to see where in the world he was taking it, but by the time I got into the kitchen, I couldn't find it anywhere. Know where I finally found it? The trash can! He's a smart one, I'm telling you!

Then last night I heard some commotion coming from our bedroom. Brian had found our HUGE plastic bottle that we keep change in and was attempting to drag it out of our room. When he realized he couldn't move it, he moved on to this HUGE bag of quarters that sits next to it. (They are separated because last summer I was trying to find a bunch of Kentucky quarters to send to Australia with Whitney...in case you were wondering)

Anyway, he dragged the bag into the front room, took some quarters out of it, and ran into his room. We found him standing at his shelf pointing up to his bank. Yep, he's a smart one. And a little miser apparently. I had to call my Aunt Norma. Our family has always laughed at her middle son's appreciation of money. I had to tell her that I am apparently raising another Andrew.

Brian didn't stop with the quarters. After Shawn hid those, I had to get our teapot from the kitchen (also full of change) and let him empty it, and then put all of THAT change in his bank. I finally convinced him to take a bath or I am pretty sure we would have been into my purse next.

Then this morning while I was checking email I heard Brian chanting, "Ball, ball, ball." I didn't think much of it until I heard a little thud. I looked up to see him landing (on his feet thank goodness) BEHIND the couch. There were two balls hiding back there and he felt the need to retrieve them. Luckily he couldn't get out on his own, so I was able to snap a few pictures before getting him out!
Finally, at lunch Brian was thinking he was pretty funny throwing all of his food to the dog. So, I sent the dog to his bed and cleaned up all of the food. Just when I thought lunch was over, Brian pointed to the fruit bar that was sitting on the table. I was pretty annoyed that he hadn't eaten very much, so I grabbed it and offered him a bite. He took a bite and then promptly spit it out and onto the floor for the dog to eat. And lunch was over.

Thank the LORD for nap time!

Some Valentine's Day Love

We had dinner with some friends the other night and Brian got to play with his girl friend, Addison. They especially enjoyed playing in his crib of all places until Addison fell and bonked her head. (Brian would go berserk if I put in him in his crib awake under normal circumstances! These two were trying to climb IN though, so I figured I might as well just put them in.) These two are too cute together!

And I don't need any comments about how forward my child is, or about how these two were "in bed together." We've already said it! LOL :)

Walking in a Winter Wonderland

We managed to convince Brian to go outside and play in the snow finally! We compromised. No boots. Instead, he wore his gym shoes and a sweet Columbia snowsuit that Nana had given him for Christmas. It was a little snug with the shoes inside of the suit, but we made it work. I almost lost the battle when I put the hood of the snow suit on his head. Thankfully, I quickly realized that he wanted HIS FOOTBALL HAT. Situation rectified and out the door we went.

We stayed on the shoveled path for the most part, venturing out into the 8 or so inches of snow only by a step occasionally. That's a lot of snow for a little guy!
"Hey, Mama, this IS fun!"

These are definitely my two new favorite pictures. Especially the one below. (Of course, I snapped it upside down, so the stupid date stamp is also upside down. I am going to have to figure out how to remove that function from the new camera.)

The end.

Snow Day!

We are in the midst of our second snow storm in a week! This time we are due to get 6-8 inches, or something like that, over the next 24 hours. Brian is enjoying watching it fall.
Hopefully after nap time he will reconsider his boot ban, and we can go out for a walk in it. I'm betting this won't happen though!

I Just Love This Picture

I took the camera into the bathroom last night during bath time to try to capture the image of my 19 month old child sucking on his toes while bathing. Must run in the family. Right Jon? Anyway, I failed at getting the shot, but isn't this a cute consolation prize?

"Get Daddy"

Brian has been having some Daddy issues lately. He's kind of jealous of Shawn (in that Shawn takes some my my attention away from him). And he LOVES me. It was cute at first, but after awhile, I started to feel bad for Shawn. As an example, Brian has been "blaming" Shawn for everything. It could be as simple as Brian tripping over his own feet, and if Shawn happens to be near by, Brian will burst into tears, point at Shawn, and bawl, "Daaaadaaa." As in, Daddy did it. Poor Shawn.

The worst was at a restaurant last week. Brian was trying to drink water from a straw. He doesn't quite get the idea that he does not need to tip the cup when doing this and as a result, he was making a big mess. Shawn took the cup away, poured most of the water into his own cup, and handed Brian's cup back to him. Instant tears. Instant pointing and bawling, "Daaaadaaaa." If you aren't Shawn, it was pretty funny. But poor Shawn, who did laugh about it, bless his heart, had to be hurt a little. Not to mention it was embarrassing to have your child blaming you in public like that! The only way we were able to get the tears to stop was for Shawn to put the water BACK in Brian's cup.

Other examples of these Daddy issues are that Brian won't let Shawn feed him if I am anywhere close by. It has to be me. The same with reading books. Shawn will be mid-sentence, and Brian will walk away with the book to find me.

We're working on it though. Yesterday Brian insisted that we call Daddy at work. So we did. And Brian walked around the house babbling to Shawn for about 10 minutes. It was too cute. And Shawn was pleased.

Then, last night, we were having a tickle session and I said to Brian, "get Daddy." And he turned to Shawn and tried to "tickle" him. Of course, I had to tickle Shawn too, which meant he was really being tickled, which made him (Shawn laugh really hard). Brian thought this was hysterical! All night he kept saying "get dada." He did it again tonight too. Shawn doesn't love being tickled, but even so, I think he was pleased with the positive attention from his baby boy.

Just another phase to work through. I know my time is coming. Someday too soon Mommy kisses will be gross and Daddy will be the coolest guy ever!
