Faith Community Pharmacy Golf Outing

Brian got a chance to be a part of the Faith Community Pharmacy Golf Outing last week! Well, okay, he hit the ball around on the practice green, had a hole sponsor sign in his name and he may have stolen a couple of the balls that were given away as door prizes...but that counts! His Pappy's team won the outing too!

I don't know why I take pictures of this child golfing. I have SOOO many. But good material is good material!

Golfing with Pappy

Last weekend (the one between Easter and this past weekend), Brian started crying for his Pappy Saturday afternoon. He wanted to "see Pappy" and "golf with Pappy." So I called Dad and he headed over. Of course, as a typical 2 year old, Brian completely ignored him once he arrived. Brian had moved on to something else. Until Brian found out Pappy was going to take him to his house to play golf! Oh the excitement! Brian ran to gather his club and some golf balls and happily got into the car. Perhaps it is dangerous for a 2 year old to be wielding a (plastic) golf club while his Pappy (or anyone for that matter) is driving, but Pappy thought it was better than the screaming that ensued every time we took it away.

Shawn and I ran some errands, and Brian and Pappy went to play golf. You could probably tell from the whining and screaming about that Brian was pretty sleepy, so no surprise, he fell asleep on the way! Mom found Pappy and Brian asleep on the couch upon arriving home.

Brian woke up happy and the golfing commenced.

Park Days: February Addition

We spent THREE afternoons at the park last week. In February. Totally unexpected and we loved every minute of it!I only remembered the camera on day three, which also happened to be the day we spent some time putting on Pappy's green.


Okay, so Brian was mostly driving the ball.

Brian was pretty darn worn out from all of that fresh air and activity!

I Forgot

I forgot to mention that the tube in Brian's right ear, which has been out for awhile, but sort of hanging out in his ear, has finally made it's way completely out of his ear. His eardrum has completely healed and there was no fluid in there! Yay for properly working Eustachian tubes! The left tube is still in place.

And since I'm posting, here are a few pictures from today. We decided to take advantage of the 70 degree weather!
And one more from last weekend. Some little man was not a happy camper when his Mom and Dad broke out the footie pajamas. Too bad little man, they're awfully cute! He clearly had adjusted to the idea by the time these pictures were taken the following morning!

A Visit from Aunt Teri and Uncle Jon

Aunt Teri and Uncle Jon were in for the weekend and spent a lot of time with Mr. B! On Friday we went to the zoo with Aunt Teri. We saw all of the monkeys. The zoo volunteers were a bit aggressive, but we had fun anyway. They were pretty insistent that Brian should call the apes "apes" and not "monkeys." Whatever! He's TWO. One friendly volunteer shared his binoculars with Brian, which was entertaining. He kept holding them to his eyes and saying "cheese!"

On Saturday, Uncle Jon and Aunt Teri babysat. From the pictures Teri sent me, it looks like Uncle Jon got treated to a game of "tickle monster" in our bed.

This is one of Brian's favorite games. They also got the pleasure of watching Brian eat...I mean devour pizza.
Always an adventure! And apparently they golfed with Itz at Nana's. Notice the mismatched clothing and missing shoe. His shirt was a casualty of the pizza earlier in the evening. Can't speak for the shoe, but he's not been a fan of them lately, so chances are he removed it!

Too Tired for a Real Post

It was a full day of fun in Myrtle Beach today! I will have to put up a real post when I'm not so tired, but here's my favorite picture from today.

Oh, and CONGRATS TO PAPPY! He hit his first HOLE IN ONE TODAY!!!

Making Lemonade

Luckily, the fireworks in the previous post happened to be taking place at a GOLF COURSE. It was hard to be angry when Brian was so elated. He spent over 2 hours doing what he loves most. What more could a boy want?
We all had a blast watching him. Everyone nearby did too. We get comments all the time about his golfing and this night was no exception. "Hey he's got a nice back swing!" "Wow, he really follows through." "He's gonna be the next ____________" (fill in the blank with some pro golfer). We even had one guy say, "Oh, wow, someone's been here before. You came prepared." I answered, "Actually, we're from Kentucky, he just likes golf so much, we take the clubs wherever we go." LOL!

So, even thought I was bummed, and it wasn't the night we were expecting, we made lemonade. Because that's what you do when life gives you lemons. Or in this case, golf balls.

What does one do, when it gets to dark to golf? Play in the sand trap, of course!

Cape Trip Day 4

The last day of our trip to Cape was busy! We spent the morning at the farm. Brian had a blast…golfing…what else is there, really? We visited some cousins and got to see the old house where my grandmother and her 4 siblings grew up! Wow, and I am complaining about my 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom (9 room) house!!!

After Brian’s nap (I napped too), mom and I set to work getting dinner ready. We had a feast and mom made a Birthday cake for Brian and Andrew. Andrew just turned 7 in late May and Brian will be 2 next week!! Brian got trains from Aunt Sarah, Uncle Mike, Matt and Andrew and he was pretty darn excited! After dinner mom took Brian back over to Tom and Anne’s and I ran to Barnes and Noble to help Aunt Beth p
ick out some “monkey” (Curious George) books for Brian’s Birthday.


When we were finished shopping and I arrived at Tom and Anne’s, Brian was golfing. I know it’s a huge shock!

Cape Trip Day 3

Our day started with (at least) a 4 mile hike. Cousin Anne told us that there was a trail through the woods that was flat. A welcome suggestion since most of Cape is very hilly! So we took off. Unfortunately, there was some sort of miscommunication. We went right where we should have gone left. Most of the trail was not through the woods. And it was not a loop as we had thought. SO with no sunscreen and a 4 mile walk back, we called Anne to rescue us!
When we got back we spent some down time with Archie. Brian enjoyed reading some of his favorite books with her and, of course, watching golf on the television.


Then this afternoon we went to Cairo to see Mom’s friend Debbie from high school and Granddad’s friend Mildred. We ate at the local Barb-b-que joint that was just around the corner from Mom’s house growing up. She was thrilled to eat there! I had a grilled cheese :) Anyway, it was good to see both ladies. We went for a drive though town…what a sad, dilapidated place, and took some pictures down by the rivers (Mississippi and Ohio meet in Cairo).


Tonight we cooked and had some more of Mom and Dad’s friends join us for dinner. Then we headed over to cousin Anne’s for dessert. Most of the family is in, so we had a good time visiting. Brian had a BLAST playing golf in the yard with some of the cousins (one of them is well over 6 feet tall). Brian thought it was great that he could dunk the golf ball in the basketball goal with Jeremy’s help! We brought him back to Archie’s a sweaty mess and he had some fun with Andrew before bath time. He fell asleep in under 5 minutes.



P.S. I will write up days 4 and 5 tomorrow if I have time! I still have to catch up on laundry :)

Busy

I am really, really busy. Last week was the last week of preschool. This week I jumped right into the final week before Father's 25th Jubilee celebration. It's been chaos of mass proportions. Brian has been just about everywhere in the tristate area with me trying to gather all that we needed for the big party. And tomorrow, it will all be over.

But I wanted to take some time today to remember my sweet almost two year old as he is today. Because really, none of the pay off from all of the "busy" means anything without him. So naturally I stalked him with my camera.

Golf is his number one thing right now. He loves to golf and would do so around the clock if the clubs were allowed in the house. He even likes to watch golf on TV! (I'm sorry, I don't get this. It's BORING on TV, but he likes it, so what can I do?)

Here are some shots I captured of him tonight (pun intended). Many people have commented over the past month (since this golf thing started) that he is so determined and genuinely seems to love the sport. Is it a passing phase or the beginning of something big...who knows? But just in case he's the next phenom, it'll be nice to have pictures to prove that he started BEFORE the age of 2.
